Recently, I had the opportunity to visit the Legion of Honor Museum in San Francisco and view the High Style collection from the Brooklyn Museum.

Interestingly, the exhibit lets you take a peek at the process behind these beautiful gowns. As I have been writing these past ten days, there is always a process behind the product. Always!

Take a look at these. Looks like quite the sleeve action.

Drawing of a dress 2

The following dress design is wonderful just as it is. Can you picture yourself stepping out for an afternoon with the girls in this lovely frock?

I loved the following quote. I can understand grammar. Cut–not so sure about.

quoteHere is my favorite dress. Reminds me of the dress that I wore for our engagement picture. Disclaimer! I am really not that old–my dress, which I sewed was made from a retro pattern!

The following dresses are encouraging for real women. The mannequin has a tummy!

Embrace your process! It is what will move you forward toward your product. If you write, love your grammar. If you design, get acquainted with cut. If in San Francisco before July 19, 2015, go see this wonderful collection. There are some brilliant and more brightly colored frocks.

Here’s a sample from designer Arnold Scaasi, 1983. Yes, folks, this was the 80s! Well, what can we say–maybe not in the Northwest where I live. poppies
