Could This Nudge Be From God?

Driving down Evergreen Way today, I stopped at JoAnn Fabrics to find suitable fabric to cover the book-signing table for my book launch events. Before I walked into the store and even as I walked up and down the aisles with my eyes scanning for bolts of royal blue, I kept hearing the name Hobby Lobby. I found one piece of fabric that I thought might work, but still I heard Hobby Lobby, so I put the bolt back on the shelf and off I went on down the street.

At Hobby Lobby, I found the perfect royal blue fabric and purchased the whole roll on the cardboard roller which meant I never have to iron this fabric but simply store it on the roll. Oh yay!

But that’s not all. I found two wonderful little wooden decorator pieces that referred to family and joy. But the super duper over the top find was a large wagon wheel with twelve spokes.

Now if you have read my book, A Life of Resounding Joy, you know that Section III contains the Twelve Spokes on the Wheel of Joy. These are the dozen practices that the Blick family employed that have secured the family in generational blessing for well over one hundred years. How perfect to find this huge wheel—at half price! What a great prop for my table and for my presentations. I was over the moon!

So what do you do with promptings?

Do you ignore them?

Or do you follow them?

Do you think God cares about shopping trips?

Have you ever considered that Holy Spirit knows you so intimately that he knows exactly what will delight you even guiding you to the store that has what you need and what you didn’t know you needed but are thrilled to find? You might wonder, is God really concerned about beauty and creativity?

Today’s experience once again reminds me how deeply He cares even for the little things like decorating a book-signing table so it is beautiful to behold.

Which reminds me that I must tell you to save the date for

Oh and what is this book about?

When sixty-five years after his death, a beloved grandfather’s gift unexpectedly takes centerstage at his great-great granddaughter’s wedding, his youngest grandchild probes to find the message of this once-upon-a-time alcoholic whose faith legacy now spans seven generations. A Life of Resounding Joy is a touching and reflective recounting of best-loved family stories beautifully written to bring hope and encouragement to every family.
