I used to hate it when kids called me “skinny!” And trust me, they did! Right along with “string bean” and “jolly green giant.” Lots of green things–that just grow and grow–like I did! Tall and wide!
But last Monday night as I was serving up Noevir Green Smoothies to the assembled tasters, “skinny” just popped right out of my mouth!
“I feel skinny coming on.”
Debby Sutherland shot back a positive response and I couldn’t get this phrase out of my mind. When I titled a blog post by this name, my hits shot up to the highest ever! What was that about?
The more I pondered it, the more it made sense. Total sense!
When you say, “I’ve lost weight” it sticks in your throat like “I lost my car keys” or “I lost the love of my life to my best friend.” Neither of these is a happy or hopeful thought. In fact, they are both gut wrenching. so why would we think that “I’m losing weight” would fill us with flourishing thoughts about our fabulous future?
There is the thought that you just might find that weight again so do NOT give away your fat clothes!
What’s lost–we hope to find! We pray about lost things? We cry about lost things. Never have I heard a friend laughing about losing anything! She cries! She searches! She bemoans!
No laughter–not after loss!
So why is “I feel skinny coming on” so winsome?
- Why are people hopping over to like my facebook page called “I feel skinny coming on?”
- Why are acquaintances calling Debby to ask what Marlee is doing?
- Why is Tim Krimm at Noevir getting calls asking if the company sells “green smoothies?”
Because of a little four letter word called “HOPE!”
Hope! We all want it. We faintly remember that skinny body we had as teenagers.
- We want it back!
- We want the energy back!
- We want the health back!
- We want the enthusiasm for life back!
- We want to stay up half the night and celebrate youth and laugh until our sides hurt and tumble into bed ready for a new day!
- We want skinny back!
So it’s all about HOPE! That’s the secret!
Now that I’ve found it, you can borrow it.
Just start saying it. Feel the words dancing around in your mouth!
“I feel skinny coming on! WhooHoo!”
Say it 10 times everyday! Say it 100 times everyday! The more you say it, the more you begin to take action and do the things that will make it happen for you.
I believe you can start! I did! And I love the feel of skinny coming on. You will, too!
And I say it a lot now. Multiple times a day–everyday–and I keep those Noevir Green Smoothies coming on, too!
