Recall the last time you ran into a friend in the supermarket aisle who didn’t tell you she’d been busy?
I know—it was the time you met the friend who’s been sick for a month—because she’s been too busy!
How does the concept of “busy” align with your flourishing life?
If flourishing is being “fruitful and productive over many years” and busy is being “occupied with a great deal to do” where do the two intersect?
Or do they?
It seems to me that busy indicates excessive activity leading into a spin cycle. Flourishing speaks of being rooted by a well-watered spring where generous nourishment is readily available so a crop can flourish for harvesting.
Now suppose you’re asked how you’ve been lately. What would need to change in your life so you could enthusiastically answer, “Flourishing!”
