Floundering or Flourishing

On the first Sunday following the devastation in Japan, I received a phone call from a dear friend in my Noevir business. She had been watching “talking heads” all morning and spiraling deeper into gloom. With all the foreshadowing, she saw her business with our Japanese cosmetic giant being washed away in a tsunami of dire predictions.

She told me she finally turned off the TV realizing it was doing her no good. Hello! The mental anguish that engulfed her was worse than the damage to the Noevir Group. Every single employee of our Japanese parent company is safe. All the brainpower that has made Noevir one of the top 50 cosmetic companies in the world is intact! Yet, half a dozen prognosticators of doom sent my friend into a mental tsunami.

Thought for the day:  There is always someone standing by ready to fit you with a yoke of bondage based on two inches of information! Resist!

Dr. David Van Koevering, the father of the performance music synthesizer industry and holder of hundreds of patents in the field of sound and musical instruments, states that we “see” about two inches of the fifty miles of energy waves that go clear up to the glory of God. When we operate from our five senses and a bit of intuition, we are really in the dark, all things considered!

Psalm 1 has something to say about this. Loosely paraphrased it begins with “Happy is the individual who does not walk, stand, or sit around with those who report on what they have learned through their five senses.” Post that one on your mirror and read it daily. Better yet post it where you get your world news—TV, radio, Internet, newspaper, or next-door neighbor!

Want to be happy in Your Flourishing Life? Resist that two inches of information! Locate the “off” button and use it frequently!
