There used to be signs around Washington State that read, “Keep Washington Green.” I’m not sure if they are still exist or if the meaning of green has changed so much the context is lost. Nonetheless an updated version might read, “Keep Washingtonians Green.” By Green I mean eating plenty of chlorophyll from wonderful nutrient-rich greens.
Where would our planet be without green leaves that possess abundant chlorophyll trapped as energy from the sun?
Sometimes those of us in the western part of this beautiful state tune out the green. So I decided to bring you some photos shot in a remote location where green is the new black. In fact, it is so green that driving into this area, one’s stress just drops off. What is it about green that relaxes? So take a little time out to enjoy the beauty of Washington State greenery. Then go fix yourself a green smoothie and put up your feet! You deserve your quota of the greens today! Both internally and externally!
By the way, don’t go eating the leaves from any old plant. Either purchase in a store or do your research before you go foraging. Just know, there are wild leaves stocked with heady nutrition waiting for the back woods wanderer. You just need to know what works for humans and what doesn’t!
The Jewish culture teaches that everything has a purpose. Ever wonder about the purpose of green leaves?
They’re on the planet to produce chlorophyll which is as necessary to life as water, air, and sunshine.
A fringe of fresh new growth appears like scallops on Douglas fir.
Vine maples with a touch of morning moisture glisten with life.
Some leaves are bigger than elephant ears.
Others are very tiny.
Some have interesting color variations.
I hope you find a country lane to savor your flourishing health! Long live the green! Long live the one who drinks the green–toast the green smoothie–today and everyday!
