Tips for a Memorable Valentine’s Date!

This blog is for Kristi and Rob–a beautiful pair deeply in love! This year medical issues kept them away from a favorite tradition, the NW Flower and Garden Show in Seattle, WA. That’s where friends come in–to help others flourish during times when the pace is slowed. In fact, just before writing this blog I noticed a new profile picture on Kristi’s Facebook page that read,  “Friends multiply the joy and divide the burden.”

So Rob and Kristi, enjoy front row seats at your own viewing of this famous garden show. Pull out your picnic basket and fill it with your favorites–I’d recommend some French pastry to celebrate Wight’s Nursery entry, “April in Paris.” You might also include a baguette, some specialty cheese, cameo apples are wonderful, and add your favorite beverage. The #1 favorite French cheese is camembert followed by Brie de Meaux.  For an authentic local French bakery try http://www.lartisanfrenchbakery.com/ right in the neighborhood.

Definitely find some favorite music for easy listening as you stroll through the show. We recommend soft piano or the more exotic harp. For more robust flavor, add in a little piano accordion. You might want a fanfare of bugles while gazing at the orange tulips! Definitely music! Most assuredly since the theme is “A Floral Symphony: 25 display gardens inspired by music and the sounds of nature.”

Enjoy! And Rob may you mend quickly and completely! Kristi–may you get the nurse of the year award! Since this is a blog for which I pay nothing, but time invested in recording musings, you will have to see the whole show over on Facebook. Here’s a quick peek at some of the pianos that caught our eye and ear!

Easy listening piano accompaniment fills the hall...
This piano board mounted on a fence can be strummed for pure whimsy. Shop for old pianos at the ReStore Store in Seattle or Bellingham.
My favorite repurposed piano awaits your creativity.

Wishing you the best.

I would be remiss if I did not thank Gil McNeal of Perennial Lawn & Garden, Inc. in Mill Creek for our complimentary tickets. Gil and his team made music in our front yard last year and blessed us with tickets since we leant them our bistro set. You can reach Gil at [email protected].

Enjoying the bistro set at the NW Garden Show...
